Overdraft Protection

Ascend Federal Credit Union recognizes that overdrafts can happen. Because a fee is incurred for returned checks, we encourage our members to be prepared. Overdraft protection provides pre-arranged coverage for overdrafts that may occur. When you open your Share Draft account, or any time after your account is opened, you may sign up for overdraft protection. These options are available.

Share Overdraft Coverage

This option means the exact amount of the overdraft is transferred from your regular Share account.

Loan Overdraft Coverage

This option means the exact amount of the overdraft will be set up on a loan or line of credit at the current rate of interest.

Combination Overdraft Coverage

This allows you to combine the first two options by requesting the overdraft amount be transferred from your regular Share account if the money is available. If the money were not available, then the overdraft amount would be set up on a loan or line of credit. It can also work in reverse - the overdraft amount coming first from a loan or line of credit then from your Share account.

*As long as funds are available in the selected overdraft option, you will not be charged the $20 fee for each returned draft.
