Important Notice - Error #1512

If you received the following error message while attempting to access your account via E-BRANCH, you may need to adjust your computer settings:

“Due to increased security, your computer settings will not allow you to log in.  We suggest you check all computer, browser and third party software settings that may limit this login session.  If you need assistance please contact your financial institution.  Click here for more information.”

Due to enhanced security levels on certain secured login Web sites, this universal error message, called “error #1512,” may be received. A number of factors may possibly contribute to receiving this error such as certain third party toolbars, software or spyware.

To avoid this error and adjust your computer's settings please refer to the following instructions:

Internet Explorer Content Advisor

End Users that have Content Advisor enabled in Internet Explorer will require some changes that need to be made in order to use Internet Banking.

  1. Click on Tools
  2. Select "Internet Options"
  3. Select the "Content" tab
  4. Select "Settings" and input the Content Supervisor password. (The password was created when enabling the Content Advisor. If you have forgotten this password contact Microsoft.)
  5. Select "Approved Sites"
  6. Copy and paste the entire login page URL. Example: www.myfi.com/onlinserv/HB
  7. Select "Always" and then click "Apply"
  8. Click "OK" to close the Window
  9. When logging into Internet Banking, you may receive the following message box:
"This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?"
  10. Select "Yes" to continue

Additional Third Party Software

Due to increased security, certain third party toolbars/software may prevent end user access into Internet Banking. This can also include some types of pop-up blockers. In order to log in to Internet Banking, this software may need to be disabled or uninstalled. Please refer to the third party vendor instructions for information on how to perform these steps.

Spyware/Adware

Due to increased security, certain spyware/adware may also prevent end user access into Internet Banking. In order to log in to Internet Banking, end users must remove this type of software from their computer.

Spyware is Internet jargon for advertising supported software (Adware). Adware typically reports your Internet surfing habits back to a third party site for data collection purposes. In order to protect your financial privacy, it may be necessary to install a spyware/adware search tool to determine if your computer has any of this software installed. If you determine that adware or spyware has been installed on your computer, the software will need to be removed.

If you need additional instruction or have any questions, please contact an E-BRANCH Representative at 1-800-342-3086 or by emailing memberservice@ascendfcu.org.

Important Notice - Phishing Alert

Please be aware that "phishing" scams are sometimes emailed to Ascend Federal Credit Union members and non-members. Phishing is a means to trick a user into visiting a fraudulent Web site, usually through a bogus link in an email.

Phishers send fraudulent emails containing authentic looking logos and graphics and ask for financial information.

If you get a message asking you to verify personal information, it did not come from your credit union. We will never send you a letter or email asking for your account numbers, user names, passwords, or Social Security number. If you get a message like that – do not respond.

If you've compromised any personal information through a phishing scam, contact your credit union immediately to change your account number. Then you should contact the following credit bureaus to report identity theft so that a fraud alert can be placed in your file:

  • EQUIFAX - To report fraud call: (888) 766-0008 Equifax Credit Information Services, Inc, P.O. Box 105069, Atlanta, GA 30374 www.equifax.com
  • EXPERIAN - To report fraud call: (888) 397-3742 Experian, P.O. Box 2104, Allen, TX 75013-2104 www.experian.com
  • TRANS UNION CORPORATION - To report fraud call: (800) 680-7289 TransUnion LLC, Consumer Disclosure Center, P.O. Box 1000, Chester, PA 19022 www.tuc.com

Call your credit union at 1-800-342-3086 or visit one of the BALANCE  links from our Web site to find out how to protect yourself from identity theft.

Security Briefing

This is a final reminder from Ascend Federal Credit Union concerning mandatory enrollment in our enhanced login security program.

After December 20, 2006, you will not be able to log in to E-BRANCH unless you provide the correct answers to the security questions you have selected.

If you haven't logged in to E-BRANCH and provided answers to selected questions, now's the time. Not sure if you are already enrolled? Here’s how to verify your enrollment. Click on User Options and Enhanced Login Security. You should see these two options – one to remove extra security protection from this computer and the second to remove extra security protection from all computers.  If the option to add extra security protection is missing, you will know that you are already enrolled. If you are not enrolled, follow the instructions below.

To enroll prior to the mandatory date (after the mandatory date, you will be automatically prompted to enroll):

  • Simply log in to E-BRANCH.
  • Answer the challenge questions you selected previously and proceed to User Options.
  • Select Enhanced Login Security, make sure the selection has been made to add extra security protection to your computer.
  • Then click Submit. It's that simple.

Note: If you clear your cookies, you will be required  to answer your security questions on your next login.

To update or change your security questions:

  • Go to User Options and click on Challenge Question Setup.
  • Then select a question from both categories.
  • Provide your answers.
  • Verify your email address and click Continue.

Simply call 1-800-342-3086 if you have any questions about this new feature.

Ascend Federal Credit Union is committed to keeping your online account experience convenient and secure. We appreciate your membership, and thank you for using E-BRANCH.
